Call To Worship: Hebrews 10:19-24 ESV LEADER: 19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, 20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
ALL: 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works
Prayer: Faith (adapted from The Valley of Vision) LEADER: O Gracious and Redeeming God, grant us the eye of faith
ALL: To see You as Father. To know You as covenant God. To experience Your love through the work of Your Son.
LEADER: Be pleased to live and move within us. Breathing in our prayers. Inhabiting our praises. Moving in our actions.
ALL: Causing us to grow in Your grace
LEADER: Your bounteous goodness has helped us believe. Fan this divine spark into glowing flame. Awake faith in us to put forth its strength and actions.
ALL: Holy Spirit, fill our souls with the fullness of Christ.
Central Text: Acts 2:41-47 ESV 41 So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls. 42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. 44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.
Response: Romans 12:1-2;9-13 ESV LEADER: 1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
ALL: 9 Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. 10 Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honour. 11 Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. 12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. 13 Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.
Benediction: Romans 15:5-6 ESV LEADER: 5 May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus,
ALL: 6 that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Post-Service Text: Acts 2:45-47 ESV 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favour with all the people.
