Scripture Readings

Call To Worship: Romans 8:1-11 & 2 Corinthians 3:17-18 ESV

LEADER: 1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

ALL: 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

Prayer: The Convicting Spirit

ALL: O blessed Spirit of Christ, conveyor of all grace and truth
Come work repentance in our souls;
Melt our hearts with the majesty and mercy of God.
Show us our ruined selves and the grace there is in Christ.

May we confide in this great love through faith.
Bear Thy image.
Observe Thy laws.
Pursue Thy service.
In Jesus alone.

Help us to receive Him.
Walk in Him.
Commune with Him.
Conform to Him
Find in Him
wisdom, righteousness,
redemption, and renewal. Amen.

Central Text: Acts 13:2-4; 48-52 ESV
2 While they were worshipping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”3 Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off. 4 So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus.

48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed. 49 And the word of the Lord was spreading throughout the whole region. 50 But the Jews incited the devout women of high standing and the leading men of the city, stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their district. 51 But they shook off the dust from their feet against them and went to Iconium. 52 And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.

Benediction: Romans 15:13 ESV
LEADER: 13May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

ALL: Amen

Post-Service Text: Acts 13:52 ESV
52 And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.
