Art Exhibit: Kelly Chelena

New paintings are in the gallery! The work of Kelly Chelena will be featured in the gallery this Spring. Kelly won Best in Show at the Annual Juried Art Exhibition in the fall of 2025. We will have a Meet and Greet Reception for Kelly on May 31st after the service. Drop by and chat with her about her work.

Artist Statement

My paintings have been described as crunchy, expressive, gestural and abstract. My preferred mediums are acrylics and watercolors on various surfaces. I consider myself a process painter and a mark maker. Making a mark is a basic human instinct. Each mark or brushstroke has a relationship with those around them. Intentional marks combine with random marks to create a landscape, an element of nature or an introspective piece. Stages and challenges of life are depicted in sections, compartments, layers or the expression of a mark. I am reminded that I am connected to the bigger world through my art. I love living in the mountains where there is so much beauty with my family.
