The role of the diaconate is to minister to those in need or distress. In addition, it is their responsibility to collect the gifts of the people, and to share these gifts among the community of Grace Mills River.

Meal Trains

Meal Trains are a new tool that are organized by our Deacons. We have been able to bless a few families recently with meals. We need more folks that are willing to receive these meal trains and provide meals to those in need. If you are interested in this ministry, contact either Sheryl Mathis or Julie Ledford.

Our Journey Of Hope

Do you know someone who is battling cancer - a neighbor, friend or loved one? Our Journey of Hope is a biblically-based cancer care ministry open to anyone who is ready to make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer. We want to bring practical support and the hope of Christ to every person in our congregation and community affected by this illness.

We want to pray for you! Please share your requests with our prayer team, church leadership, or Grace family. Members of our prayer team will receive and pray for your requests.

The Prayer team meets every Sunday between services in Room 130. Anyone wishing to participate can attend. To learn more about the prayer team contact Dave Bokmiller.

Widows Support Group

Widows Support Group

The widows group is currently meeting and having wonderful fellowship. The deaconesses are letting it organically grow and become a place to meet and share. This group meets once a month.

When: the 4th Friday of the month, 10:00am

Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault & Child Abuse

Safelight is a nonprofit agency in Henderson County that provides support for survivors of interpersonal violence, sexual assault and child abuse. They make it possible for families who want to be free of violent relationships, to succeed. They offer free, confidential help for adults and children. Their services include a 24-hour crisis line, emergency shelter, advocacy, counseling, case management, support groups, job training, and much more. Visit their website for more information.

Interfaith Assistance Ministry

Interfaith Assistance Ministry

IAM’s mission is to provide emergency relief to Hendersonville County Residents who are in financial crisis by offering food, clothing, utility and rental assistance to those who qualify, school supplies, prescription support and overall guidance in an atmosphere of compassion and respect. Volunteers are needed Monday-Saturdays from 9am-1pm. They can assist in the clothing and pantry areas or as an intake interviewer after a small amount of training.

The Storehouse is a Christ-centered food and hygiene pantry serving the low income, elderly and needy families of Henderson County. Want to help at the Storehouse? You can volunteer time or talents! Volunteer any amount of time to helping us run The Storehouse or help with letter writing, data entry, handyman services, driver, etc.

Substance Abuse

Hope Coalition's mission is dedicated to preventing substance use among youth and focusing on long-term recovery for anyone impacted by alcohol and drug addiction. They work hand in hand with public schools, law enforcement, health department, healthcare organizations and other community non-profits and agencies to effect change.

Homeward Bound

Homeward Bound

Homeward Bound is an organization in Buncombe County that reaches out to the most vulnerable homeless individuals living on the streets of our community to connect them with permanent supportive housing, healthcare, disability income, and community mental health services. They run the AHOPE Day Center, Western North Carolina’s only day center for people experiencing homelessness and it meets a crucial need.
