Family Worship for the Lord’s Day

(15–25 minutes)

PARENTS OF LITTLES: Make use of the Snow Day Worship Resources you received from Christen, and adapt this liturgy as you please!

Prepare
If possible, gather in one room. Light a candle as a reminder that Christ is the Light of the world. Silence phones and distractions.

Call to Worship
(Listen to the Prayer of Thanksgiving for the first snow from Every Moment Holy)

(if you are watching online worship, pause here for:)

Scripture Reading

(Read slowly and reverently)

John 17:1-5
(Children are encouraged to read a verse each if they are able.)

Listen to Dr Elliott Mallory-Greene’s sermon

Discuss one or more of the following themes together:

  • What is communion with God and why is that what He most wants for us?
  • What are great thoughts of God and why are they able to help us?
  • What does great boldness for God look like and why is it necessary?
  • What is great contentment in God, and why is life worse without it?

Prayer

Take time to pray together:

  • Confession of sin (silently or aloud)
  • Thanksgiving for God’s grace
  • Intercession (each person may name one request)
Conclude by praying The Lord’s Prayer together.

Hymn or Psalm

Choose one option:

  • Sing a familiar hymn (a cappella is fine)
  • Read a Psalm aloud responsively
  • Listen to a hymn recording and reflect quietly

Suggested hymns:
  • Great Is Thy Faithfulness
  • O God, Our Help in Ages Past
  • Be Still, My Soul

Benediction

(Read aloud)

“The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.”
- Numbers 6:24–26
